Cindy and Toby

Concorde Ridge Leonbergers (CR Leos) is an inspected, permanently registered CKC kennel located on 10 acres in the Niagara peninsula. We are approximately half way between Toronto and Buffalo and 10 minutes from Hamilton. We have been breeding dogs for over 30 years and been involved with Leonbergers for 21 of those. We currently live with ten Leos – a wonderful combination of “brains and beauty”. All have attained their Canadian Championships or are actively pursuing it.We actively participate in Canadian and US Breed Specialties. As well, most hold their Canine Good Citizen titles. Our dogs have participated in our community in the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program as well as the R.E.A.D. (Reading Assistant Therapy Dog) program with the Hamilton Board of Education. CR Leos have been “going to school” for years and have made visits to early  all childhood classes as well as done in-character appearances as Buck from Call of the Wild to middle school students.

I am a life time member of the Canadian Kennel Club as well as a Canine Good Neighbour evaluator. I am a member of the Leonberger Club of America as well as the Mid- Atlantic Leonberger Club. I have also had the pleasure of judging  the Puppy Sweepstakes  at the Leonberger Triple Crown in Maryland.

Recently, we donated one of our dogs to participate in a new initiative in the Forensic Psychiatry Therapy Dog program at St.Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. This is an excellent example to showcase our dog’s calm and therapeutic nature. It was a very proud moment for our kennel to be selected!

We have imported much of our breeding stock from Germany, Russia and Ireland , while also using top North American lines. Our Leos are genetically screened before they are bred. Hips, elbows, hearts, eyes, thyroid are all certified. They are also screened for both types of  inherited polyneuropathy as well as LEMP. Our dogs are active participants in running our farm – we wanted a breed that could look formidable but be gentle and trustworthy with livestock and invited guests.

We believe that good nutrition compliments good genetics. Our puppy buyers are strongly advised to follow our recommended diet as well as our vaccination schedule. We have a welcome home policy. If for any reason you can not keep your Leo they are always welcome back home. We provide support and information to all our puppy people!

Serious puppy inquiries are welcome.  I do not ship puppies, if you are taking one of my Baby Bergers , I want to meet you! All potential puppy owners must complete a questionnaire and are strongly encouraged to come and meet our Leos in person. Puppies are sold by reservation only and on non-breeding contracts. Waiting lists of approved puppy owners are generated for each litter.  For our questionnaire and to view a copy of our contract, which outlines deposits, prices and health guarantees, please contact us. We do not respond to emails solely asking price. If you are more interested in price shopping than the quality of the dogs, I am probably not the breeder for you! These dogs are my passion, not my living  and I only want clients that are equally passionate and enthused  about their newest family member! As mentioned unless distance precludes a visit this is a very important part of the” puppy process”. This must include the entire family. It is only reasonable to assume that all family members must “be on board” with adding a Leo puppy to their lives.

As prices of vet care, food etc. have increased substantially over the last couple of years, this will also result in an increase in puppy prices as of Jan. 2025.
